Hindu philosophy compels you to improve and do good for the society, environment and the earth. If you are going to reincarnate to the same space(society, env, planet), you definitely want it to be better than earlier.

Purpose of human life is to contribute positively to the universal consciousness - work towards increasing its own consciousness, and consciousness of all the lives around it.

Universe is an ongoing experiment of the God, driven by action of unlimited containers of consciousness. God may interfere for some tweaks, but even he doesn't know what would happen next. It's collective actions of all these containers which will determine where this experiment would go and how it would end.
